More than 474,000 children in New York City face hunger – that’s one out of every four kids. Now that the school year is over, these children no longer have access to free or reduced-price lunch programs.
But they do have The Summer Meals Program. This program is completely free and is offered at over 1,000 participating sites around the five boroughs. It provides a nutritious breakfast and lunch during the weekdays through August 31 to every child under the age of 18. The program doesn’t require any ID, paperwork, registration or documentation in order to receive a free and healthy meal.
We encourage parents to take advantage of this opportunity and for all to spread the word about this great program.
