The Door, A Center of Alternatives is starting a new Young Adult Internship program for COMMITTED young adults who are ready to dedicate a minimum of a year of their lives to this program. YAIP participants will be able to work up to 25 hours a week making $7.25 an hour. We offer an array of opportunities that include placements in the nonprofit and corporate setting. Internships include child/daycare, retail, administrative, personal care, hospitality services and more! Post internship we will provide you with assistance in getting a HS/GED Diploma, enroll in college and/or obtain a part-time or full-time job.

Participants must be New Yorkers between 16 and 24 not currently working or in school and must live in one of the following zip codes: 10034, 10040, 10033, 10032, 10031, 10039, 10030, 10037, 10035, 10023, 10024, 10025, 10026, 10027, 10029, 10009, 10002

The program starts Monday, March 19, 2012 but registration is open now until Friday, March 2. Applicants must stop by their office at 555 Broome Street, New York, NY from Monday through Thursday from 2-5 pm. Applicants will have to attend an orientation session and complete an interview.
